CALIFORNIA!

Team training camp was a blast; we spent 10 days lapping up the Californian sun, pedalling along together surrounded by stunning scenery. There are 12 women and 18 men on the 'Optum Pro Cycling presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies team' (I think I got that all out correctly!) . It was great to practice lots of race drills and lead outs together, collectively everyone is really excited about kicking off the season in just over a week.

On the final day in Ventura, Cali we enjoyed a tiki torch lit bbq on the beach at the guy’s house. The evening ended in the guys doing a 'plank off' for World Bicycle Relief. We are supporting this very worthy charity as a team. They provide bicycles to disaster relief victims as a means of providing access to independence and livelihood. The guys attempted to hold a 15 minute plank  (but failed) so Courteney and I have taken it upon ourselves to conquer this core hold for the cause before the end of the season!

On the 17th we departed LAX for Asheville in North Carolina, my luggage possessions tripled in size with all the new team stash. This has been a slight temperature shock coming back and training in winter again, but made a whole lot easier by the beautiful mountains here. This is going to be my base in between races for the next 8 months.

Yeah (above) slight bag explosions in Asheville.

Our makeshift home gym!

Testing out the compex muscle stimulator- getting a couch workout on!

Next up for me in March is the Merco Classic in Merced California, then back to North Carolina then off to Florida then back to North Carolina then back to California. Hard life I know!

  1. Performing abdominal exercise, such ascrunches, reverse bicycles and push-ups will assist you to have killer abs as theabdominal fat comes off, but other exercises must be included in yourroutine at the same time. With that, you may in fact have the ability to achieve the ideal abs right after some point but this is often coincidentally left out of the advertisements.
